blueSKY - Coronally structured titanium implant
bredent medical extends their successful » SKY implant system by adding the crestally structured blueSKY titanium implant with osseo connect surface (ocs). The sandblasted and etched surface of blueSKY reflects state of the art technology and ensures long-term success of the new implant system. Thanks to this modern design, blueSKY is ideally suited for flush placement with the bone and the use in the augmented ridge; the implant provides perfect preconditions to maintain a high level of bone height after placement. Thanks to the innovative thread the primary stability of the inserted implant is increased considerably.

Surface
Fig. 1: blueSKY implant system vs. » SKY
The blueSKY and the classic » SKY implant differ in two aspects:
■ Surface: the osseo connect surface is sandblasted and high temperature etched for blueSKY and just sandblasted for the classic » SKY implant
■ Design of the neck area: structured coronal section of blueSKY compared to machined neck of the » SKY implant
Surface
Fig. 2: blueSKY vs. » SKY
The different structure of the surface can be clearly recognized in these two SEM pictures.
Surface
Fig. 3: blueSKY implant system - coronally structured
The structured coronal section provides perfect preconditions to stabilize bone height at a high level after implant placement. This way bone loss is avoided.
Surface
Fig. 4: blueSKY implant system - osseo connect surface
The fine-structured even surface of the osseo connect surface, provides perfect preconditions for the apposition of the bone cells.
Surface
Fig. 5: blueSKY implant system - osseo connect surface
The fact that blood immediately rises on the implant during initial contact clearly documents the excellent hydrophilic properties of the osseo connect surface.
Surface
Fig. 6: blueSKY implant system - machined rim
The machined, horizontal grooves support the apposition of soft tissue and avoid inflammation around the implant.
Height: approx. 0.5 mm
Design
Fig. 1: blueSKY implant system - compression thread
The compression thread leads to considerably improved primary stability of the implant.
Design
Fig. 2: blueSKY implant system - implant shape
Just like with the classic » SKY implant, the conical-cylindrical shape supports the outstanding primary stability of the implant.
Design
Fig. 3: blueSKY implant system - double thread
The double thread ensures very fast and atraumatic insertion of the implants.
Design
Fig. 4: blueSKY implant system - torque curve (screwing in implants)
■ Very quickly in situ (in approx. 6 sec) thanks to the double thread
■ Constantly and quickly ascending curve
■ Maximum value at the end
■ No stress
Design
Fig. 5: blueSKY implant system - indication
Above all, the blueSKY implant is suitable for flush insertion of the implant and in the augmented bone.
The higher, machined rim of the classic » SKY implant is particularly suitable for cases of differences in the bone height if the user intends to maintain the bone height.

Surgical protocol
Fig. 2: blueSKY implant system - surgical procedure based on bone quality (D4)
The surgical procedure takes the bone quality into account. The procedure that is used differs slightly from that used for the classic SKY implant.
Cavities have considerably smaller dimensions when they are prepared in soft bone D4 using the final drill
This instrument is used for completing the preparation in bone quality D4.
